Like I said yesterday, I’ve sent an e-mail to Adagio tea asking them why their shipping rates to Canada are so high ( 1kg: $26.93 2kgs: $31.78 3kgs: $36.62 ) and if there are chances that it will be lowered in the future.
I got this answer:
Thanks for your note. We formerly relied on Parcel Post to ship our Canadian orders. Unfortunately, this was a slow service that did not provide tracking details, resulting in many lost packages. We now use Priority Mail international, a speedier delivery option that also provides tracking details, allowing you to easily view the progress of your order from our warehouse to you.
The rates for Priority Mail service to Canada are published here: http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/ce_003.htm#ep2041503
While being more expensive for shipments of only a pound or two, the increase in cost is very gradual as the weight increases. As a result, the cost of shipping five pounds is only slightly higher than the cost of shipping a few ounces. We hope you may take advantage of this by ordering less frequently, but in greater quantity.
Please visit us again soon, and let us know if we can be of any further assistance.I understand the logic behind what they are saying, but I’ve ordered stuff from the States countless times, and it wasn’t as pricey at that for a similar weight. I’m sure that they could offer a much better rate than that, but there isn’t much that I can do about that. So for now, I still can’t really afford to buy stuff from them.
